A rather brash young woman who is a brand new college student shares her story.

My name is Britnee Denise Rowlett.  I am nineteen years old.  I lived in Trenton, New Jersey, until just a few weeks ago; not so sure whether I like Louisiana just yet ...

I jusst started attending the Univeristy of Louisiana-Lafayette here in Lafayette, Louisiana.  It's okay, but don't have that many friends just yet ... except for one.  And she's  my roommate.

My roommate is as outgoing as me, but in a different way.  She is a lot nicer than me, for one thing; I have a tendency to spout off my opinions at the drop of a hat, and I have been known to insult people with what I have to say.  Sorry, can't help it.  It's just the way I am.

My roomie is named Ronee'.  Ronee'.  Ronee' Le-Anne Reaux.  Now isn't that a pretty name?  It fits her.  She just turned eighteen on Christmas Day.  She's really sweet, if you can get past all the religion stuff.  She is a born-again Christian and isn't afraid to "share the gospel" with people.  (I'm Wiccan.  My beliefs are more nature-based.)  As long as she doesn't force her Jesus on me, then we shall get along just fine; so far she hasn't.  I prefer she doesn't.

Ronee' is about my height (maybe an inch or two shorter), but she's skinny, whereas I'm a regular pudgeball. :)  She's also disabled: walks with two canes (sometimes a pair of crutches, though I haven't seen her use 'em just yet).  She has JRA (juvenile rheumatoid arthritis).  She also has asthma and allergies.  Just as long as she stays away from things like nuts or bee stings, then she should be just fine, but I wonder what I would do if she were to get sick or have an attack.  I would be too scared to help her! :(

Anyway, back to my story.  I am an only child.  Also the daughter of divorced parents.  My parents got divorced when I was ten; mom then moved out, and dad's been raising me ever since.  I've had a bad time of it, but it's for the best becasue Ma and I have never gotten along.  We did at one time, but when I turned ten, our relationship soured.  She and I butted heads constantly!  Then came the news that Ma was living with a woman (she is now a lesbo), and that was it.  I broke all ties with her; I don't want to have anything to do with her.

Dad was disapopinted in her too; he broke ties with her too.  It's just him and me now ... or was until I moved butt to Louisiana and started college.  It also didn't help that ma (and her partner, Christina) came to visit ... "to see if they could try to make things right with me", she told me.

Yeah, right!!

I want to major in Meteorology.  I want to become either a professional weather forecaster or a storm chaser.  I have always loved storms.  My plan of action is this: I want to transfer to the University of Oklahoma (in Norman, where the SSL ... Severe Storms Laboratory ... is located) within two years.  My roomie, on the other hand hates storms with a purple passion.  She has a dread fear of them.  Me, I love them: the wolder, the better! :)  I eespecially enjoy watching tors (tornadoes); to me, tornadoes are fascinating!

If I don't do well in the weather field (and I plan to! LOL), I would like to go into journalism and report on politics.  I have always held an interest in politics, but I fear the directions upon which our country is going.  I do not like the current administration AT all!  They are ruining this country!  I would even like to try to run for president; I think with my mouth and my brilliant mind, I ccould get things done and whip this country back into shape! :)

Well, I gotta get back to my homework.  I will write in here again.  I am then going to take Ronee' out to lunch; we're having lunch at the Olive Garden, and then may hit the mall to do some shopping.  Dad sent me some cash; it's burning a major hole in my pocket.  LOL  I will talk to you later; until then, this is Britnee signing off!  See ya!

~Brit.  :)
