Willy the Ragdoll kitten now has a home and a family to call his very own.  Considering where he was when he'd first appeared at our facility, he's come an awfully long way.

Willy was brought to our facility about a month and a half ago.  He was clearly sick: emaciated, dull, matted fur, eyes so crusted with pus and matter they were swollen shut, and clearly in pain.  It was heartbreaking.  We did all we could to save this little fellow's life; eventually the antibiotics took hold, and he soon was on the mend.

Time, though, was running out: if he didn't find a home by the beginning of the year, there was a good chance that he would have to be euthanized.  Seems that nobody was interested in adopting a little kitten who would be blind for the rest of his life.  It was a dire situation, and it broke all of our hearts.

Thank God for Grace Tilton, one of our workers, who took it upon herself to adopt the little kitten.  She adopted him with just hours to spare before Willy would be put down.  It was a wonderful Christmas for the both of them ... and for us.  Now Willy lives with her, and we are missing him terribly.  Willy managed to purr his way and wrap his little cream colored paws around our hearts.  Despite what he'd been through, he still loved people, and he learned that not all people were out to hurt him.

We regularly keep in touch with Grace, to see how Willy is faring in his new home.  He's since gotten used to his new surroundings, and he's already bonded with not only Grace, but her husband and children, as well as their little Chihuahua dog, who is named "Dinah".  They've since become the best of friends: they sleep with each other every night, and they play together, all day long.

I just wish all of the animals who come to our facility could have a happy ending like Willy did.  This is not always so: some of the animals are so sick or have been so abused the best (and probably the most humane) thing we can do for them is to euthanize them and put them out of their misery. 

Thank God for caring people like Grace Tilton; we could certainly use more people like her to take care of so many needy, neglected, or abused animals!
