My real name is Rafael Quinones, but most people, they call me "Shooter". "Shooter" is the name I go by. It's 'cause I like to shoot marbles (get it??). I also love to play baseball. I am 11 years old.
I live in Baltimore, Maryland, with my family. My family consists of my mama and papa, as well as my three brothers: Jaime (9), Junipero (5), and Ricardo (2). Our abuela (my grandma) also lives with us.
I'm the oldest, as you can see. I like it that way, because I can do whatever I want (as long as it doesn't go against my parents).
Right now, we're off school. Having a really nasty winter blizzard going on outside: you can hear the winds howling, and the snow is coming down three to four inches per hour, so you know we're getting dumped on. It's even thundering and lightning; it's crazy!!
Don't think we'll be going to school until later next week sometime, if this keeps up ... the weather is really bad; people on the TV and radio stations are advising everyone to stay in if at possible; if people do have to get out, then they run the risk of getting arrested. Nice.
Don't think I'm going anywhere ...
Summer is my favorite time of the year 'cause I get to play baseball. I play baseball on a Little League team; some of my very best friends play alongside me. Our team is called The Rough Riders, and we're pretty good, if I do say so myself. We have some dynamic players on the team. Some of my baseball buddies include Garrett "Slam" Gomez, Robert "Keyboard" Keller, Danny "Games" Canfield, Lillian "Lightnin' Lil" Peterson, Oscar "Ox" Eubanks, Brian "Bull" Jacoby, and Kenny "Knuckles" Deutchman. We range in age from six to thirteen/fourteen. I'm right in the middle.
I have been playing Little League baseball since I was Pee Wee's age. Pee Wee Heim is the youngest; that's why we call him "Pee Wee" (D'oh!!). I LOVE it!! I am a very good catcher; I also pitch, but I can do all the positions quite well. Don't mean to brag, but I've played baseball ever since I can remember; it's one of my life's passions. In fact, I'd like to go into the Big Leagues when I get to be an adult; I believe I can be good enough.
My favorite team? The New York Yankees (don't tell Papa that: he'd disown me. He's a pure-bred Baltimore Orioles fan!).
Besides baseball, I like to draw, write stories, skateboard, rollerblade, play basketball and football with my friends, hang out with my brothers, collect toy race cars, go to rap or rock concerts, and play video games on the weekends if the weather is bad (I plan on doing that later on today).
