A girl is devastated to find out that her boyfriend has broken up with her.

Image of lightning at night (c) 2010, by Karla Dorman.

I should have suspected that this would happen ...

My boyfriend of three months has broken up with me.  Cheating.  He cheated on me by seeing another girl.  Turns out that the girl he went to is (or was) my best friend.

I am so mad, so angry right now, I am seeing red!  I want to physically hurt Dean for doing this to me!  I thought he loved me!  I thought he cared about me!  I thought nothing would split us apart!

I'm also mad at Chellie.  It's because she's so popular: she's the head cheerleader, and she has gobs of friends while, for me, making friends is next to impossible.  It's because I'm a geek.  I hate shopping for clothes, and Lady Ga-Ga (or whatever in the hell her name is, if she even IS a her ...) makes me GagGag!!

I'm also not popular because I look like the back end of a horse, in terms of looks (or at least that's what everyone says).  I think Dean wanted to be my friend because he felt sorry for me. Then he pulled this stunt, and now I don't have anybody.  I'm all by myself again.

Seems that's my life.  I spent most Friday (or Saturday) nights at home, twiddling my thumbs, and watching the same old drivel on the boob tube.  That was my life before Dean enteed the picture.  Then Dean would take me out to eat, or out bowling, or even dancing at Mulate's or Prejean's.  (I love Cajun music.)  I really thought we had something going here.

Then came the day when I discovered Chellie's picture in Dean's locker when he had it open while getting his stuff.  When I asked him about it, he said, "She just gave it to me.  She wanted me to have it."  Then I saw the lace bra stuffed in the back, and that's when I lost it.  I started screaming and clawing at Dean's face; I wanted nothing more than to scratch his eyes out.  He then got mad at me and basically told me to go to hell; no guy would want to go out with such a homely girl.  That was his exact words.

I have since gotten rid of everything that reminds me of Dean.  I even got rid of my Cajun music cassettes: threw them right into the incinerator.  Now I have nothing but a broken heart and memories of what we once had.

I don't know why I even bother to make friends.  All they do is end up hurting (or useing) me, and I am sick of it!  I'd be better off dead!!!!  I wish I could wake up and say that this is only a bad dream!!

Whether the person is male or female, breaking up in this way is always extremely hurtful. As for looks; yes, the way one appears to others is the first impression but ofttimes a person of character can see beneath the outer facade to find something that may attract him/her. As always, Karen, a very believable, touching story. I hope that you're staying warm.
