My dog, an Alaskan Malamute, is the greatest thing since sliced bread (at least, in my opinion).  

Tundra is four years old and is a very happy, active dog.  One quickly forgets that he has three legs.  He was forced to have his leg amputated when an overwhelming infection took over his body; in order to save his life, this was the only viable option.

It took a very long time for him to recover and to adjust to his new way of life, but once he got better, he was soon back to his old self.  He learned that even having three legs didn't have to hamper his way of life.  He still could do a lot of things, including running around, jumping, and doing all the things that dogs like to do best.

We have had Tundra since he was a pup.  We thought we were going to lose him when he'd gotten so sick.  So many prayers were said on his behalf.  I felt funny going to church and asking them to pray for a dog, but then I realized that dogs are God's creatures as well, and they deserve prayers, too.  I think prayer was the only thing that got Tundra through his illness (and ultimate amputation).  It was only by God's grace that he survived.

My husband and my kids adore Tundra almost as much as I do.  He's very smart, has a happy-go-lucky personality, loves to play and run around, and is an all-around great pet.  We cannot imagine our world without him; he's managed to wrap his (three) paws around our hearts and won't let go.  We love him so much!!

Tundra is a great inspiration for people, particularly those who are disabled.  They figure that if a dog can adjust and do things, then by God so can they.  He is training to become a therapy dog, and in the future we plan on visiting elementary (or junior or senior high) schools in our immediate area and teach children about disability and acceptance.  He is a very quick learner.  He loves making people happy with his never ending bag of tricks.

Well, I must go.  Tundra wants to go for his morning walk, so I'll go.  I thought I'd write and tell you about our dog and why we think so highly of him.  He is one of the most incredible dogs I have ever seen (or had the pleasure of owning)!
