     Scorpion continues his story.

Hello, homies!

Scorpion here.  Sorry I haven't written in a while; things have a way of getting past you when y'all least expect it.  Time got away from me.  Plus I'm really not that big on writing, especially about myself, but people been wanting an update on me, so here goes ...

Still watching out over my brothers Yancey (6 1/2) and P'nut (10 1/2), to make sure they don't get into any trouble.  Trouble has a way of followin' 'em, especially P'nut; "Trouble" is his middle name!

Yancey ain't too bad, but if people bug him, all he has to do is play whack a mole with his stick and smack the shit out of his tormentors.  Works like a charm, every time!  LOL (Yancey has spina bifida; he walks with crutches.  He was born with it, but it don't slow him down any.  Never has, never will.)

Momma still workin' two jobs: she's a teacher by day and a nurse by night, which means I have to be chief babysitter for the little nimrods disguised as my brothers.  :)  She has to, especially when Yancey has his surgeries or hospital stays; medical care ain't cheap!

I am still palling around with my homies, but at night, we don't go out.  We don't live in the best of neighborhoods: gunfire and drug activity are quite common here, and it just ain't safe, especially for little kids like Yancey who can't defend themselves.  I keep my brothers (and myself) in at night; I worry all the time about Momma, for fear she might get mugged, but so far, she hasn't, which has been an answer to prayer.

I pray this continues.

If something bad happen to Momma, I don't think I could ever forgive myself.  Gonna have to start thinkin' about gettin' me a job, so I can help bring extra income and make things just a little easier for the family.  Also thinkin' about possibly enlisting in the U.S. Marines and become a soldier or perhaps go to college (I'd like to go to someplace like Syracuse University or Cornell University and become a business owner or perhaps a teacher like my Momma).

Today is Saturday and it still cold here.  I am getting sick of this cold/snowy weather fast.  I am more than ready for temperatures in the eighties and wall-to-wall sunshine!!  Spring can't get here to New Jersey soon enough, in my honest opinion!

Well, Yancey is screaming; guess he found a rat in his bed.  Damn rats; they been nothin' but a huge nuisance!  We've called the exterminator about this, but so far, nothing's been done!  I am so scared that Yancey (or P'nut, or even Momma) gonna get rat-bit!!  I will write in here again soon; until later, this is Scorpion Tackett saying so long; I'm outta here (and so is that goddamn rat when I get a hold of its scrawny little neck)!  Take care!

~Scorpion.

Karen, an excellent story, well done. I think it's time for Scorpion and his family to move. Bad neighborhood, rats ... finding a rat in my bed would make me scream, too. LOL

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
