Today, I look at the faces of my sweet children, and I see fear..
Fear that causes their sweet, youthful eyes to water up and tear.

There's still talk of terror attacks, warnings, and alerts,
And all of this worldly pain causes my heart to hurt.

There's also a homicidal sniper loose in Washington D.C.;
Nine innocent people shot to death..who will the next one be?

There is also war and killings, innocent little ones being kidnaped;
Just WHAT is the next event, the next horror, to be unwrapped?

With my little special brood, I fear for their health and safety;
The world isn't ready for kids like mine, kids with a disability.

I fear they will be hurt or worse; I fear for their very lives;
I also fear for the ones who have lost loved husbands and wives.

Lost due to murder, terrorism, war, car crashes, nature's fury..
It seems that death comes in such a way, in such an awful hurry!

I wonder what God thinks of all this strife that goes on today;
It seems that evil has won over good in such an awful way!!

I know, as a Christian, I must look to God and pray and hope;
It's the *ONLY* way that I have learned to go on and cope!!

But when I see all the bloodshed on the news, I just cry;
I wonder why some more innocent people had to die!!

God help us, our fear-stricken world, our hurting land;
Please deliver us from Satan's ugly, sin-marked hand!!

Excellent job of capturing what many of us all feel. For one's children to face the world we now know is bad enough, but when your child faces a world full of evil with additional challenges due to disabilities, it is even harder. Fear is not only a well crafted poem, but an even greater prayer. May God hold us all in the palm of His hand and keep us safe from the evil in our world.
