Are you sure it is only May outside and not the middle of August?
The reason I ask is this: it is only nearing the very end of May: not even June yet, and temperatures have already soared into the nineties to near the century mark. Is this an indication on how our summer is going to be?
Somehow I think so.
I am actually dreading the heat/humidy of summer because I don't take the heat well. Never have. Never will.
I was born up north, near Chi-town (Chicago), in Illinois. Now I live here in McKinney, Texas, which is east of Dallas, right smack dab in the Metroplex. I moved here to Texas on account of Brady's job (Brady is my husband). We moved here ten years ago. You'd think I would be used to the weather by now. Nothing doing. No matter how hard I try, I just can't get used to the weather patterns here.
Texas has some extreme weather: in the spring it is too stormy (we just got through a bad spring fulll of storms, the latest round, of which, was last week; lost my shed from strong winds and nearly lost my mind too in the process!), and the summer: too freaking hot!! The heat doesn't last for a few days: it goes on for weeks and weeks, with usually no relief in sight! It's horrible: it feels more like the pits of hell than the plains of Texas!!
I HATE it here!!
The fall is nice, and the winters are not bad, but the winters are too fickle: one day it's cold. The next: hot or mild, with temperatures approaching eighty or better. One never knows what kind of clothes to wear! It's crazy!!
ANYway, back to my story. Yesterday's high nearly hit 100 degrees, the first time since September of last year (2010), and it was all I could do to keep from wanting to jump in the pool. I was home because I was nursing an upset stomach while Brady took the girls (Ezrah and Emmalee) to the pool for the afternoon. All I did was curl up with a good book and sit right under the air conditioning, wishing that it was approaching fall. LOL I also was drinking mint juleps or iced tea.
It was wonderful!
I don't swim. Can't even float. Took lessons, but it never did me any bit of good. I get into water, and I panic. I know you are supposed to relax, but I can't. I HATE the water: I'm always scared that I'm going to end up droowning! Then what would Brady and the girls do without me??
As a female, I don't have the luxury of taking off my clothes. I could go around in my bikini, but I would scare the neighbors off: I have thunder thighs; I am not exactly Twiggy, if you know what I mean! Brady, meanwhile, can go around in just his shorts or sandals with no problem, but me, not so much. I would get arrested: that would be my luck!
Well, Ezrah is calling me, so I'd best see what she needs. She is six. (Emmalee, her big sister, is nine.) Just pray we get through this coming summer; I'm already about to melt, and it's not even summer yet! Summer doesn't officially start until the 21st of next month!! Thanks!
Come on, fall! You can't come soon enough!!
