July 2011, Birmingham, Alabama~

Howdy!  This is Shawn Perkins writing!  Hope this finds y'all well!  (Live in Alabama now; have to say "y'all" instead of "you guys"!  LOL)  I am doing well; hope y'all are too!  (Thanks for stickin' by me this long! :)  )

I love my new (adoptive) family more and more every day.  I've gotten really close with my new parents and with my brothers and sisters.  I am especially close with Corey, who has heart issues and is mentally disabled.  We nearly lost him last August (nearly a year ago); it was a very scary time for our family, especially when he developed complications and had to spend three weeks in Intensive Care.

I'm happy to say Corey is fully recovered and is back to his normal self.  If you were to look at him, one wouldn't even know he had heart trouble because his skin is so pink and he's a little ball of fire.  Nothing really slows him down, though his heart tried to!  (He may need more surgeries in the future, but for now, things are okay, according to his doctors.  Let's hope that continues!)

Q'urionka, my 12-year-old sister, was going to try out for AGT, but she got a huge case of stage fright and bowed out.  She was so disappointed in herself.  We told her it was okay to be nervous: after all, if you got in, that meant that people would see your mug on television ... and that is in addition to the people already in the audience!  

That did not set too well with her.  She flounced out of the room, bawling.  Wrong thing to say after you've had a major case of stage fright!  Oops!!

Seeing as the weather is hot here, most of us kids have been spending the days swimming in our pool or going to the mall to cool off.  We've also been to a festival for July 4th (that was fun; loved the parade, the military flyovers, and especially the free food, music, and FIREWORKS!!), and the week before we went to the Birmingham Zoo and said howdy to all the animals.  My favorites were the elephants and the cheetahs.

Or we've gone to the mall.  Have already seen "Cars 2"; that was just as good as the original; I really enjoyed it!  I also have gotten myself some cool games to add to my Wii system and gotten some awesome music, so I can listen to it while I Wii! :)

Have also joined the choir at the church we go to; will probably start working on Christmas music fairly soon, for the Cantata, which is coming up in December.  I love singing every week at church; I love using my voice to glorify God!

Well, the rugrats are up, so I'd best scoot, fix myself some brekky, get dressed, and get this day started.  I just wanted to stop in and let y'all know what's up.  Take care and may God bless you always; I will write in here again another time!  So long for now!
