Everyone who knows my dad knows he wouldn't hurt a fly, but try telling that to me, his kid. I look at him, and I feel intimidated, each and every time.
Most everyone calls my dad "The Big Kahuna" or "The Gentle Giant". I just call him "Sir".
There is no freaking way that I am gonna try to get on dad's bad side. He reminds me of a tree. A big, strong oak tree. His hands are meaty and powerful. His arms look like thick tree trunks. Hie legs look just about the same. Ain't nothing "small" about my dad: my dad is seven-foot tall (plus three inches). He's one of the biggest human beings I have ever seen.
I ought to know. I live with him; I see him just about every day when he is not working. My dad's a security guard. As Mr. T once said, "I pity the poor fool". Let me add to that statement: "I pity the poor fool who messes with my dad or gets on his bad side".
It's funny seeing my tiny mom stand next to her husband. While dad is 7'3" tall, mom, on the other hand, is only 4'9". Over two feet difference in their height. I call 'em "Mutt and Jeff": you couldn't have picked two very opposite poeple to be parents if you tried. LOL Yet God meant for Jorge' (dad) and Avila (mom) to be together, so there you go. God was the One who brought my folks together, and He blessed them with two children: me (Jorge, Jr.) and Yacinthia.
Yacinthia is thirteen. I am eleven. And I am gonna end up just like the Big Kahuna: I am super-tall: I already tower over my classmates. I am nearly 5'7" tall (and still growing). I also have dad's hearty appetite. We both can eat like a horse, which drives mom crazy because she's having to go grocery shopping at least two to three times every week, just to keep food in stock. LOL Sorry, can't help it; we big guys gotta get our grub faces on, and when hunger strikes: LOOK OUT!!
Yacinthia is just like mom: she is very short and thin. Mom is the same way. (When she had me, I had to be delivered by C-section; dad tells me I was over 14 pounds when born. I was not born a baby: I was born a football player. LOL My pediatrician still tells me the story about how I was the biggest baby ever born at the local hospital not far from our home. The press came and everything; I made it to the paper, and mom and dad still show me the article, now yellowed with age.)
Dad's biggest problems are ducking ceiling fans (or light fixtures); if he's not careful, he can whap his head (or even cut it; he's had to go to the ER to get stitches from one too many tangles with the ceiling fan or light fixture or door jamb).or finding clothes that fit him. He has to go to the big-and-tall-men's store to get his clothes and shoes. In addition, he has scars all over his head; he calls them "his battle scars", even though he never joined up with the military. LOL
Besides keeping people safe at the mall or at sporting (or other special) events, dad is a marvel with his hands: he can fix just about anything: computers, cars, electrical work, plumbing, busted machinery ... doesn't matter: if there's something to fix, the Big Kahuna can make it right, each and every time. He is absolutely amaszing!!
Well, I gotta get ready to go inside and eat: the Big Kahuna has bellowed; once he calls, you'd best come or you'll probably miss out (and mom and Yacinthia both have a better chance of getting something to eat LOL). Also gotta go to bed early tonight: school starts back up tomorrow. Take care; hope you enjoyed reading about my dad. He is certainly something special; once you meet him, you will probably never forget him as long as you live!
