A boy born with a shorter-than-average leg is teased by other kids at his school, making his life a living hell. this is his story.

I wish I never had been born.  Life would have probably been a lot better without me.

I hate my life.  I hate my school, I hate the kids here, and most of all, I hate my stupid leg.  I was born with one leg shorter than the other; because of it, I have to wear these hideously ugly orthopedic shoes, one with a built up heel, so I don't limp so badly.  Yet even though I walk nearly like anybody else when I wear it, they still see the shoe, and they call me "Gimpy" or "Shoe-Boy" or other less-than-kind names.

School has started only this week, but the kids have not let up their "fun-and-games" since last year.  They continue to tease me now more than ever.  They never let up, even when the teachers get after them.  Once the teachers step away, the teasing starts all over again, worse than before.  Some days are so bad I end up going to the nurse or go home in tears.  Then, on tep of my leg (or my orthopedic shoe), I get teased for crying and the kids then label me a "cry-baby".

Mom and dad both tell me I was born this way for a reason, but I've heard the same song-and-dance a million times before.  I know the whole story.  They tell me I should be grateful I can walk, but dang, I wish I could walk just like everyone else, without help!  The kind of shoes I wear are horribly expensive and I have had surgery several times on my leg as well as on my foot (in addition to the shortness of my limb, I was born with a nasty club foot, but that was fixed when I was a baby).

I tend to drag my foot whenever I get tired.  When I do, I am at risk of falling more (and I have) ... and not just from others tripping me.  I fell again today, right in the cafeteria.  I was carrying my tray.  Tripped over my stupid boat and the food went flying, landing on some of the footballers and cheerleaders at the next table.  I was then picked up by the scruff of my neck by a particularly big brute of a goon, and now I am sporting a nice, big black eye.  My eye really hurts.

And the kids do what they've usually done: laugh.  Now I feel worse than ever and I wonder if I should talk mom and dad into moving so I can transfer to another school altogether.

At the school I go to now, I don't have any friends.  I have tried to make friends, but all they see is my dumb leg (and shoe) and they don't want to have anything to do with me.  Also doesn't help that I am short for my age (and skinnier than a post), wear thick-lensed glasses (so my eyes look like bug-eyes), have a big nose, and clown hair (red and unruly; think Bozo).  I'm not exactly Mr. Movie-Star handsome!

It's no wonder I am so unhappy.  I don't look anything like mom or dad.  I think I resemble the family dog the most.

If the teasing doesn't stop soon, I might end up doing something totally out of line, and I won't be responsible for what may happen!  I just wish I could move from this place and get out of this crappy school!  As I said in the beginning, I HATE it here!!  And I hate myself and the others who think it is great fun to use me as their personal punching bag!!
