Amazingly enough, Konnor, our youngest, survived his medical crisis. The paramedics got him breathing again and by the time he was in the hospital ER, he was screaming to beat the band.
Nothing wrong with his brain or lungs/heart! It was nothing short of miraculous! Konnor had beaten the odds: again!
Flash forward to present day~
I am happy to say that Konnor continues to defy any (and all) medical odds that have been placed upon him. He is now a happy three-year-old with a zest for life/adventure; nothing has really stopped him. He is a little small for his age, but compared to how he started life, he has come an awfully long way.
Konnor has since endured several more surgeries (his last one was last year; he had a permanent colostomy performed) and/or hospital stays (mainly for colds plus the surgery on his colon), but between those times he has proven to be an extremely active, gregarious child with a "let-me-at-'em" personality) and he is never still, not for a moment! It exhausts us to try to keep up with him!
Our other chidren (Kenny, Kamilla, Kasen, Kayla, Kensie, Karter, and Kwinsey, who range in age from five on up to twelve) dote on their little brother and would do anything for him to make him happy. If anything, Konnor has taught them about humility, patience, grace, and above all, love and acceptance. It has been a wonderful arrangement.
I am doing well too, as is Filip (my husband). I continue to teach the children here at home (I am a homeschool teacher, in addition to being their mamma) and Filip continues to drive a truck for Wal*Mart. He travels throughout Utah, Colorado, Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana; he is hardly ever home because of the demands oof his job, but when he is, we make it a point to spend as much quality time together.
I miss Fil when he isn't here with us.
The weather is starting to change here in Utah. It won't be long before the trees are ablaze with color and the first of the snowflakes start flying. The long days of summer are past; today is the first day of autumn. I am glad; we had a long, fairly hot summer here.
I just wonder if we are going to get as much snow as we did this past winter. The ski resorts are still operating on a limited schedule, but the mere fact that they remained open this long is nearly unheard of. We had record snows last winter: over 200 easy, which is monumental. We were scared we'd get massive flooding, but thank God, not much materialized (not here, anyway).
I'm just thankful that God gave Konnor back to us and/or allowed him to live. People are always amazed whenever they see him because he was not expected to live. He is a true testiment of the power of the human spirit and the power, mercy, and grace of a loving God. He is our little miracle-boy!
I am currently writing a book about Konnor and all that he has gone through in his three short years. I think people would be interested in hearing/reading his story. If all goes well, the book should be out sometime next year. It is a lot of hard work, but I am enjoying this latest venture in my life. (I do most of my writing at night, when the kids are in bed.)
Well, it's time to get back to the kids and their schooling, so I will run along for now. I will write more as time permits. Just keep those prayers coming; prayer is what has worked for not only Konnor, bout our entire family! We give God all the praise and glory; we cannot even begin to imagine our lives without Him!
