Howdy from Kentucky!

Jessie Lou Pritchett here.  Hope this finds y'all doin' good.  As for me, I can't be any happier: church day is today!!

Sunday so happens to be my favorite day of the week.  I love going to church and seeing Pastor Martin and all my church friends during Sunday school! And today we get to go to "adult church"; usually we're stuck in the gym with the other kids.

Today I'm going to church with my friends.  They're taking me 'cause Momma and two of my sisters (Loretta, 14, and Coralee, who's six) have the flu and strep throat; they don't want me getting it.   Don't blame 'em; I don't want to get it either.  That strep throat is nasty business!

I have a cousin in Bucksnort, Tennessee, whose throat got so swollen from the strep that he needed to get a tube put into his windpipe and he breathes that way.  He whistles and sounds funny when he talks, but it saved his life.  His name is Heath and he's my age.

So that is why I say strep throat is bad business.  It's nothing to mess 'round with!

I'll probably stay with my friends for a few days to a week 'til Momma, Loretta, and Coralee are over the strep throat and flu.  One's bad enough; why did they have to get something else on top of it!! They are so sick it isn't funny; I just hope they don't end up having to go to the hospital!  I will have to mention that to Pastor Martin today at church, so we can pray for my sick family members.

Daddy has already got my suitcase packed with at least four/five/six days' worth of clean clothes and underwear, my nightie, my flannel p.j.s, my toothbrush and toothpaste, some of my hair "purties", and some favorite books and some toys to take with me.  I will go with my friend to her house after church; they are picking me up and I will then spend some time with them while my Daddy takes care of Momma, Loretta, and Coralee here at home.

I had a good Halloween.  I was dressed up as a witch.  Got lots of tricks-and-treats in my plastic jack-o-lantern that I carried with me as I went from door to door and then we went to a Halloween party at school.  It was fun!  Now it is November and so it is time to think about Thanksgiving and what I would like for Christmas.  

I know one thing I would like for Christmas: for Momma, Loretta, and Coralee to get over this nasty strep throat and flu combination!!  :(

Well, I hear my friend's Daddy beeping the horn of his beat up pick-up truck, so I mustn't dilly-dally.  I will write in here again soon; until later, this is Jessie saying so long!  Just pray for my Momma and my sisters Loretta and Coralee to get better!  I would greatly appreciate it!  Thanks and God bless!
