The Void

     We seek peace, harmony and balance in life yet we constantly divert our energies to destabilize the world around us.

THE VOID

I sit staring into the Void.  It is all around me; infinite, in the front of me, above me, behind me, below me, infinite.  I see nothing; all hope appears to have vanished.  Once it was my enlightenment; it gave me hope, direction, and purpose to be passed on to humanity.  Through me they learned from the Void; it taught them and showed them a way to move forward, but now I fear all is lost.  I pray, hopefully, it is only for the shortfall.

We exist by the grace and majesty of a God whose finger touched the fabric of the Void and there was light and from that light all things were created.  I pray he will touch the fabric again, again breaking the barrier and sending more light for darkness abounds. 

I am old, almost as old as the universe itself; tired, the Void has drained me of my energy as I search for the next increment of knowledge.   I focus constantly looking for that next point of light to rekindle inspiration and refocus my efforts.  Mankind needs help.  They are destroying the very world they have created: pollution, over expansion, uncontrolled population growth, and resource depletion both on land and in the sea.  Extinction for both themselves and everything around them maybe the only defense the Earth has to right itself.  It has tried before and nearly succeeded in several cases.  Ice ages reduced the human population to a very small number; the flood also, but mankind regrouped and reestablished itself to continue its growth without any increased measure of restraint; the earth was theirs and ripe for the picking. 

They state “In God We Trust”, but they do not practice it.  That all men are created equal, yet they go to great length to segregate them.  That they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.  Yet they imprison them in systems that restrict their access to these basic tenants.  Or worse, take away “the pursuit of happiness” by offering only enough to keep them in servitude.  Others believe that their God allows them to kill and destroy what others with a different God hold as true , yet forgetting we are all one in concert with life on a planet that is trying to right itself from the harm being done to it.  They have created weapons of “mass destruction” by harnessing the very energy at the heart of the sun that gave them life, energy that could turn against them and eradicate everything they have created.

They have mastered enough of the understanding of their physical and cellular makeup to create diseases that can destroy all life as they know it, and yet pursue this direction versus a direction of prevention; destruction versus weapons of prevention.

Where will mankind go at this point?  Will it continue to destroy itself, its planet, and all other life forms?   Will there be an enlightening; that we are all one and create a common purpose that saves us and our planet?

That is why I sit and stare into the Void, searching for that next instance, that next shinning element that may lead us out of the darkness.  I have not shed tears for an eternity yet feel one growing in my eye.  Unfortunately, I do not feel it is a tear of joy, but despair.  Despair in the direction of humanity and my ability to see anything in the Void.  So I sit and I stare, looking, waiting, and hoping the Void will answer.
