I wish I could just find a pair of socks and stuff them into Dora's mouth ... seems that she is always bursting into song, especially around Christmas ...
If I hear "Silent Night", "Jingle Bells", or "O, Holy Night" one more time, I might toss my gingerbread cookies ....
Guess I shouldn't be too annoyed. See, Dora (or as I call her, GORE-a) has learning disabilities and is borderline autistic. School has always been hard for her and singing is one thing that brings her joy. I should learn to accept her for who she is and what she likes to do. My parents are always ragging on me to be nicer to her.
I should: after all, this IS Christmas time and now is the time to prove my worth to my folks. I can be nice to Dora when the time calls for it, but dang, I wish she'd just stop SINGING!! And I wish people would stop saying how adorable she is and hearing Pop call her "My little Christmas Songbird"!
Dora does have a pretty voice for an eight year old. She has always loved to sing, so much, in fact, that Pop and Ma invested in giving her voice lessons. Guess that's to be expected: she's spoiled. I'm taking MAJOR spoilage: whatever Dora (Gore-a), Dora (Gore-a) gets!!
Not surprising, Dora will be singing one of the big solo numbers during our church's Christmas pageant. I am sure she will do a good job, but the jealousy factor will be working overtime. Seems that people always ooh and ahh after hearing my little sister sing. That's all in good, but what about ME?? Doesn't my wizardry on the basketball court matter to my parents?? No, not as long as sweet, adorable little Dora (Gore-a) is in the picture! I might as well be Thanksgiving Day leftovers the way things have been going!!
Ugh!!
I will be so glad when Christmas is overwith. Maybe then Dora can shut her yap and get back to being the cute, annoying NON-SINGING kid she's aways been! (There's just something about Christmas that makes her want to sing!)
