My name is Christopher Micah Hope. I am twelve years old.
I live with my family in Seattle, Washington. I am the youngest of three kids. I have two sisters: Meghan Danielle (14) and Brooklyn Michelle (17). I am in the sixth grade at Woodville Elementary; it's my last year there. In the fall, I will start middle school (seventh grade).
I am also disabled. I was born with cerebral palsy. Because of it, my brain was damaged and it affected me physically.
I cannot walk without help. I walk with crutches, but on longer jaunts, I use my trusty old steed: my wheelchair, which is purple and yellow. It's really sharp looking. I call it the Purple Flash.
My favorite thing in the world to do is sing. I want to be a gospel singer. I sing country gospel music. I want to be like Randy Travis or Charlie Daniels. Both started out in country music, but both sing gospel music and try to spread the message of Christ in their concerts. I really like them a lot!
I have been singing since I was six; I take voice lessons and it's really helped me improve. I have a nice, strong voice and I sing a lot, especially in church. I go to a Baptist church and nothing pleases me more than singing for my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, especially during Christmas.
After all, the birth of Jesus Christ IS the reason for the season!! He may not have been born in December (in fact, some people think He was born in the spring or the fall), but we celebrate His birth in December, and Jesus gave us ALL the greatest gift of all: saving mankind from sin and hopelessness.
I accepted Jesus Christ as my Saviour when I was six, six years ago. I was at home, in my livingroom, when I made the decision, and Mamma and Daddy both led me in the prayer and Jesus saved me. I haven't been the same since!
God gave me the gift of singing and I plan on using it for Him. I haven't looked back.
Next year, I plan on recording my first CD. I pray it comes to pass; it would be a dream come true ! I have sung at several local festivals here in the Seattle, Washington, area, and I love singing for people!
Besides singing, some of my favorite things to do include going to church (NATCH!), reading (my Bible and the Hardy Boys series, also the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series), writing (via my computer), going to my horse riding therapy once a week (to help improve my balance), swimming, praying, and telling others about Jesus Christ.
In case my singing career doesn't pan out, I want to be a preacher, just like my daddy. Yes, I am a PK (preacher's kid)! I would love to travel the world, just like Billy Graham, and tell others about what Jesus has done for me!
I love Christmas. I just wish more people would realize that it isn't about the getting; it's about giving the gifts of your time, worship, and prayer to God and for giving to others. That's how Christmas really started and the message of Christmas should be about CHRIST, NOT about Santa Claus, Frosty the Snowman, or Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer!
After all, Frosty, Santa, or Rudolph CAN'T save you: only JESUS CHRIST can save you from your sins if you believe, repent, and ask for forgiveness of your sins!
On that note, let me be among the first to wish you a CHRIST-filled Christmas and never forget that JESUS, Himself, is the Reason for the Season!! Merry CHRIST-mas from my house to yours!
