Becky Brenner writing. I am up with a houseful of sick people: husband Don and two of our three children (McClain and Sheela, who are 2 and 4) are sick with horrible colds. The only two who remain healthy are myself and our oldest daughter, Shalee, 6.
I pray we don't get the bug. Out of the children, Shalee has always been the strong one, although she's the one who has been in and out of the hospital for surgeries, therapies, etc. (Shalee has spina bifida and is paralyzed from the waist on down.)
McClain was the one who got sick first. Then the other day, Don got sick, and now the cold has traveled to Sheela. They are coughing and sneezing and are all so miserable! The sickroom has been doing a booming business the past several days ...
Meanwhile, I have Shalee to worry about, yet there isn't even a sign of a sniffle or cough. She is her typical joyful, sprightly self, which is a huge relief. My mother and father are here, helping out; I thank God for that because I can concentrate on Don, McClain, and Sheela while my folks entertain their oldest granddaughter. They have been a huge blessing!!
The weather isn't helping: we are getting hammered right now with heavy rains and high winds. Several times our power has flickered on and off; it's really blowing out there and you can hear the rain hitting the windows and roof. It's coming down at a good clip. It's even thundering and lightninging (is there such a word??) outside. Really nasty weather: not fit for man OR beast (unless, of course, you happen to be a DUCK! +QUACK!!+)!
Anyway, Shalee has not been sick once this winter. I pray that continues. It's the rest of US who aren't worth a can of beans!
We had a nice Christmas; Shalee got a brand new kitten, a Maine Coon she has named Charlie-Boy. They have become fast friends and are always together. She takes very good care of it (with my help) and I am very proud of her to see her taking responsibility at such a tender age!
I am glad the holidays are overwith; now we can look forward to spring!! We are currently under flood watches and warnings and from the way the rain is falling, I believe it too. I just hope we don't have to evacuate, especially with my husband and two of our three children being so sick with colds!
Well, that was close: the lightning I mean. And HERE comes the thunder!! Wow!! It sounded like it hit the house!! On that note, I think I'd better get offline before the power goes out again!
