I don't think I will ever forget this past Christmas as long as I will live ...
Every day I am reminded of what I got, especially when It cries in the middle of the night, waking me up from a sound sleep. Doesn't help that It sleeps in my room ...
Yeah, you can probably figure out what I got for Christmas. Yep, a baby brother. Cute little guy, don't get me wrong; but he makes so much noise when he cries!! He was born right ON Christmas Day, so a good part of it was spent at the hospital, in the Labor and Delivery Waiting Room, along with my grandparents, while Mom was giving birth to the baby. Daddy was with Mom.
When Daddy came out to tell us the news, he was crying as he choked out the words "It's a boy." To me, he said, "Shawn, you got a little brother. Ten fingers, ten toes, perfectly healthy; no sign of defect or disability. He's beautiful!"
Then I cried.
I will never forget the first time I laid eyes upon Seth Malachi. He looked just like Daddy in miniature: same wild, dark hair (he had a headful of hair!), same florid (red) complexion (maybe it was because at the time Seth was crying to beat the band!), same nose, and cleft in the chin.
He was so cute! Still is, excepting he's a little bigger now. Seth Malachi is now just a few days past one month old. He turned one month old on January 25, 2012.
At times it is hard to deal with Seth, especially when he gets all the attention or cries in the middle of the night, but as far as babies go, he will do. I don't really care for helping Mom or Daddy change his diapers (phew!), but I love holding him in my lap and listening to Seth make his squeaking sounds. To me, that is one of the sweetest sounds a newborn baby can ever make!
I made Mom laugh the other day. I told her 'cause Seth had been born on Christmas Day, his name should have been Kris Kringle or Ebenezer Scrooge. Mom didn't really buy that, but she did laugh a little as she whacked me over the head with a magazine. LOL
I plan on being a good brother to Seth. I want to show him all the wonderful things of the world and teach him all about life and growing up in it. He is one of the neatest gifts I could have ever gotten for Christmas!!
