Dear Journal~
Louisiana writing. I hope this finds y'all well and happy!
I am using the larger print today because I accidentally broke my glasses. Sat on 'em, squished 'em flat. They are beyond repair. So until I get a new pair, I'll have to wear the older ones.
Good thing I don't have to drive anywhere. For one thing, I can't see really well and I would only be risking an accident. Soooo .....
My darling husband surprised me this morning: breakfast in bed, along with a red rose in a beautiful vase and a card. He wrote the sweetest, mushiest message possible. Of course, I cried. Inside was a brand new, crisp $100 bill.
Then there was the diamond necklace to match the earrings he got me last year.
I tell you, I am spoiled rotten by that man! I just love Bill so much!!
The children also made me beautiful homemade cards and got cards from the kids no longer here. The mailman couldn't believe all the mail I had gotten today (and most of it was cards from the kiddos)!
Other than my glasses, it's been a wonderful, nice, quiet day.
The weather is rather miserable out: cold, grey, and rainy, but at least the sleet/ice from last night has gone by the wayside; then it's supposed to be nice for a few days before the next system moves in, and we could get snow out of that one. In fact, by this evening, it's supposed to be partly cloudy and the skies are already starting to clear out.
Yet it can't hide the sunshine in my heart. My family makes my day every day! I just love them all so much and I thank God for each and every one of them!
I am happy to tell you we passed the home study last week. Don't know why I had to worry like I did, but I always do during one of those things. Always scared they're gonna find something amiss and then the adoption would be cancelled!
We have been getting the guest room ready for our two new children-to-be; hopefully they'll be coming before too long. The adoption counselor said three to six months, but I'm guessing it will be even sooner than that; it usually works out that way. So I wouldn't be suprised if Camille or Akihiko come in a few weeks to a month from now!
I just hope they like us and I hope we like them! :)
Tonight, we are going to go to the city Mardi Gras celebration. We didn't go last year because we had something come up, plus I had to work. Yet we are going this time and we are all looking forward to it!
I just wish Johnny or Ronee' could join us, but Johnny is busy with school (and with his new bride), and Ronee' is bogged down with schoolwork and working five days a week (sometimes six). They have their own lives, but it would still be nice if they could have joined us!
I watched the Grammys the other night and I had to turn it off. Yet I am glad I did catch the tribute to Whitney Houston and Adele's performance to close out the show. Jennifer Hudson did a bang-up job of singing some of Whitney's biggest hits and Adele's power-packed pipes blew me away to Canada! (Not really! LOL) They were wonderful!
I was shocked when I found out that Whitney Houston had been found dead on Saturday. She was only 48 years old (I think), far, far too young. We had the privilege of seeing her about ten years ago when she came to Nashville, and we got to meet her, get her autograph, and pose for a picture or two. She was very sweet to my kids and they still talk about meeting her to this day.
To think of her dying too young truly saddens me. I know she had problems with addiction and other things going on in her world, but it doesn't lessen the shock any. Whitney Houston had a gift that truly came from God and she often thought of her fans before herself. We all loved her and will probably continue to do so.
Well, I hear Isaiah and Ian giggling, so I'd best see what those two little clowns are up to. I will write in here again another day; until later, this is Louisiana Sandusky saying God bless and talk to you again! Happy Valentine's Day!
