This is inspired by a true fact. Thinking, remembering and feeling nostalgic about the moments down the memory lane; I would like to share about a continuous effort made for a decade but is still not successful.  Each of us do desire the day where we can have a reunion of some sort.  The reunion can be anywhere and it can also be innovative.  

We are four friends who have been in high school together and later chose our path to where our career and family took us.  The four names have been changed to create flexibility with this story. The names are Sabirah, Adesina, Barina and Belvia.  Eventhough this story is inspired by the truth; it is fictitious and does not insult or plagiarize anyone’s thoughts.

It all started one fine evening, when Belvia was checking her mails in Facebook.   Belvia shared her interest of writing about her eagerness to have a reunion. However, Sabirah had other plans.  The thought was initiated by Sabirah for the longest time to meet after years of procrastination and excuses. Barina was very determined to milk out money from Belvia to dare to share her thoughts on reunions. As quoted by Barina, ‘Throw some lawful words please….She’s a writer...lets rip her off and go for a REUNION with that SUED money.’

Sabirah and Adesina did not say much about suing anyone.  In other words, one more chance of meeting was dropped and procrastinated.  Belvia thought, “Reunions are healthy and a good way to meet old friends. She wanted to dedicate something to her childhood friendship. Why is it so important to even write anything about reunions?”

Belvia very well knew that from her true and cherished memories of her childhood friends; the least she could do was bring a smile on their face through her writing. There was no genuine problem about ego or money.  It was purely the existence of time and priorities. Thanks to technology, reunions can be carried out anywhere.

When close friends share group emails, chats or even video chats; it becomes way more entertaining and develops more closeness that one can ever experiences.  It is all about efforts and making time to write a few words, voicing out and being ‘You’ to your childhood friends.  The lifecycle of friendship is an everlasting bond between opposite, strange and friends who can be hilarious.  It is the connection and the compatibility to people who generate fuel of love, laughter and wackiness to their life with sincerity and sensibility.

Sabirah, Adesina, Barina and Belvia comment, criticize and even gossip about many things that are quite juicy and spicy.  Miraculously they don’t even think twice to be a helping hand inspite of being miles away.  In other words, friendship is the best medication to any stressful scenario.

Few days later, Barina emailed Belvia for a surprise visit. Belvia was astonished and glad that it worked. Barina and Belvia have been catching up and missing Sabirah and Adesina. With just a phone call away, a conference call does magic and brings laughter to an extent one can imagine. Belvia remembers her conference calls with other friends; it is loud, fun and mirthful. Within that moment so much is shared and good old days are remembered.

On the other hand, reunions also instigate those pranks and embarrassments that were forgotten. Old crushes, risks taken and bunking classes were something that made those days livelier. However, in present times, as taking career as part of our life one does miss those activities.

For now, we have a crush on our career, risks are taken for a better life and we bunk all the negativities.   

Sabirah, Adesina, Barina and Belvia are ladies that shall make sure the reunion does exist some day before the day the body says ‘I can’t take reunions. I can’t even walk.’   The honest effort and all the gossips that have been piled up in the shelves of the mind shall soon have to be well distributed and sarcasm will once again play the role of friendship with a twist.

 The clinging of wine glasses, coke or even cocktails will indicate the merriment of everlasting joy. We shall cherish our reunion. You should do too. Make your day memorable by catching up with old friends. The childhood memories and situations one undergoes is a step to an experienced maturity and lifetime entertainment.

Reunite, appreciate, and a few minutes of planning will be an effort and an initiative remembered forever. Technology has surely made our lives easier and reunions not necessarily take a decade but only a few days.
