This is Ronee' again, but I am going to write about something that happened to me last July, right before September 11.
My family and I were in New York City; and we were there because my mommy wrote a letter to Maury Povich (only I didn't know about it), and they called and said for us to come to New York City. (I was at school when that happened; I didn't have a clue as to what was going on.)
While in New York City we saw the Twin Towers; and I was absolutely amazed. They were the tallest buildings I had ever seen in my LIFE!! I tried to look up, and when I did, BAM! I fell right onto my behind!
But we weren't there to sightsee. We were there because we were to be on Maury Povich's show. (He is a talk show host, and he has his own show on tv. We watch it sometimes when we don't have school, or if they have something that the family can watch together; sometimes, though, they have stuff on there that we can't watch; so I don't get to watch it all of the time.)
Well, that morning, we all got ready, and we went to the place where the show was taped; and we were told to wait backstage. So we did; and when it was time for mommy and daddy to go on, they did; but they told me to stay behind.
Soon, a man dressed in a dark grey sweater came up to me, and he told me he was Maury Povich; and he seemed to be very nice. He told me to come onto the stage; and when I did, everyone in the audience clapped. That was kinda' embarrassing; but I managed to make my way to the stage without tripping or falling down. Maury then started to talk to me. He asked me my name; and he asked me what grade I was in at school. I told him, and he then told me to listen as he read a letter; and I soon found out that maman had written him a letter, and it was about me. Maman was crying, and some of the people in the audience were, too. Basically, the letter said that I was a cool kid, according to mommy, and I had been through a lot in my life (in which I have, but you already know about all that stuff so I won't go into details again). By the time Maury was done reading the letter, I had tears in my eyes, too.
Maury then said that he had a special surprise for me; and I didn't know WHAT to expect. He asked me if I liked Cajun music, and I told him I did. He then handed me a brand new accordion, a Martin. He said it was for me. I couldn't believe my ears. Or my eyes. I was so surprised; I am sure I sat there like a dork, with my mouth hanging wide open! But then he said he had a special guest he wanted me to meet, and he told the guest to come..and it was none other than my FAVORITE kid Cajun singer, Hunter Hayes!! I about passed out clean out on the floor, I was so surprised! Hunter came up to me, and he gave me a HUGE hug; and I wanted to DIE right then and there! He was so sweet, and he said that he was glad I was playing Cajun music; and then, if THAT didn't beat all, HE had ME play a song with him!
That was my experience on Maury's show. It was shown during the Christmas holiday, and maman taped it; so, if I want to, I can watch it. But I will NEVER forget it as long as I live; I got to meet my favorite Cajun performer, and I got a BRAND NEW Martin acoordion, too!!
And Maury has since written me a letter, asking me how I was enjoying my present, and I wrote him RIGHT back, telling him how happy and excited I was! He was so sweet, and I will always remember that time as long as I live!! He made this kid's dream come true ; and I will always consider him a special angel!!
