In 10 more days will be your birthday, and this letter is one of my presents to you.
Daddy, I have been your daughter for only 4 short years, but I feel as though you have always BEEN my daddy. You have loved me like no other person has (well, maybe excepting for mommy), and you have accepted me when nobody else has.
I feel privileged to be called "your daughter". You gave me a chance at life when nobody else was willling to take that chance because of my handicaps. Most people shunned me because I was born with spinna bifia (spelled wrong; the child meant "spina bifida"), was born paralyzed from my waist down to my feet, and was born without arms. In addition, I had severe lung damage, and had to use oxygen (and still do). But you saw me as a child, a person, and a person with feelings; and you saw beyond my outside appearance. Instead, you saw me as a child with hope, and you saw me as a child needing a family and a home.
You also didn't care that I was born in Iran to Muslims; and you accepted me despite that. Not many people understand the Muslim religion; it remains a mystery to them, and many people aren't ready to accept that, especially since last year, since September 11 when Muslim extreme-ists attacked our country. Daddy, you may not know this, but when I saw the Wrold Trade Center Towres attacked and set afire after the planes hit them, I cried like I had never cried before since grandma Moliere' died. I cried because many innocent people died, and they died in a way that was horrific and uncomperhensible. What those extreme Muslim terror-ists did was enexcusable and unforgivable, but your God said to forgive those who hurt you, and so I have learnt to do that; but it still isn't easy. Now we are at war with unseen people, and we aren't sure what will happen next, but with Allah's help, we will prevail. We have GOT to; America is a strong nation; and we DON'T take things like bombing buildigs or hurting people lightly. This evil called "terror-ism" has GOT to stop..NOW!!!!
Daddy, you have proven yourself to be worthy, brave, and honorable, and I am so happy you have chosen me to be a part of your family! I don't know what I have done to deserve such a loving home and family, but I am indeed grateful. You know that I use to pray to Allah each and every day, praying for a family of my own? Now I have one, and I am indeed grateful and blessed! Thank you SO much for loving me and for choosing me.
And I want to thank you for showing me you love me. I love you with all of my heart, and I am indeed grateful.
