I never thought it would happen in a million years.  

I have lost my best friend, Kayla.  We have been best firends since kindergarten; she suddenly has decided that she doesn't want to be friends with me anymore.  

Kayla and I got into a huge fight last night at her house.  We had gone swimming and was having a great time, but then she accused me of something totally off the wall and I went off on her.  That was when she started crying and acting stupid and told me she didn't want to be friends with me.

I then walked home, where I have been in my room ever since.

Oh, okay, maybe not ever since, but I haven't even talked much to my family, and Kayla hasn't even called me, so I know she must still be really mad at me.

I know Kayla has problems.  Her dad left her and her mother when she was practically a baby (I think I have seen him maybe once; that was at Christmas two years ago; he lives in Oklahoma), and her mother has told Kayla that she is a lesbian and has a girlfriend.   That was six months ago.  Now the girlfriend has moved in and lives with Kayla and her mom.  The girlfriend's name is Jill.  

Kayla also has a brother, Ian, who is disabled.  He is in a wheelchair and cannot walk or talk.  I don't know the name of his problem but Kayla told me it wasn't cerebral palsy.  Ian is six years old.  Kayla's mom works, and Jill stays home to take care of Kayla and Ian while her mom is away, earning money for the bills and the family's needs.

I know Kayla's family doesn't go to church: her family is Wiccan.  Basically, she accused me of being righteous and holy after I got mad at her for acting stupid, and I didn't bring up one word of my Christian beliefs: not one word!  She was just looking for any excuse to blame me for something and now, as a result, I am without a best friend.

I thought Kayla knew me better than that.  I mean, we could talk about practically anything (and everything).  We didn't hold any secrets from one another.  All of a sudden, she hates my guts and doesn't want to be my friend anymore??  What gives??  What's the deal??

I have never in all my time with her blabbed to anybody about her or had any problems with her or how she lived.  What she did was her business only, not mine.  She respected my wishes and I respected hers ... or until yesterday, that is.  Now she won't even talk to me or call me to apologize, so I guess that really means that our friendship must be over.

I am not angry at her: just very hurt and confused.  I don't know what I could have possibly have done to wreck our friendship this way other than tell her to get a hold of herself and stop acting stupid.  I didn't even CALL her stupid, just the way she was acting was all!
