Keegan, Kerrigan, and Kelly are three peas in a pod. Chances are, if you see one, you'll see the other two tagging close behind.
Keegan Michael, Kerrigan Daniel, and Kelly Finn are six years old, and they are identical triplets: that is, they look exactly alike: same fire-red hair that falls to their shoulders in thick ringlets, kelly-green eyes, freckles adorning their cheeks and noses, and same dimpled smiles (which they inherited from their father).
People can tell Kerrigan from the other two, only because Kerrigan happens to be in a wheelchair. He has cerebral palsy: he was the littlest triplet, weighing only 1 pound, 2 ounces; his earlier than planned birth caused brain damage as he was entering the world and now he's marked for the rest of his life. He cannot walk, but he can talk your ear off if you'll let him. LOL He's quite smart; his problems just happen to be physical: his mental state is perfect.
Keegan and Kelly are healthy, thank the good Lord. They are their brother's staunchest supporters: they will fight anybody who dare make fun of him or stare at him. They have learned tolerance and acceptance of the disabled far better than most children their age or even adults who don't seem to know any better. I am extremely proud of Keegan and Kelly, and so is Da (what they call their father; I'm Ma).
Tomorrow the boys start first grade. Daniel and I are hoping for a great year, the best one ever. I am sure they will be the talk of the school; they always are, especially when all three of them appear together. They have a knack of attracting people because of the mere fact that they are triplets and happen to look exactly alike.
Sometimes I wish the boys didn't draw so much attention, but it's not my fault I carried triplets. It just .... happened. Then we had to get three of everything and enlarge our home, so there would be extra room in order to accomodate three baby boys and all that comes with them: cltohes, diapers, toys, other needs.
We don't have any more kids; having triplets is more than enough!
Maybe when they are older, Daniel or I might try for a girl, but after that, our child bearing days are history! Until then, we have three triplet boys to follow ... and clean up after them (although Kerrigan is the neatest; Daniel or I don't seem to have too much difficulty with him; it's the other two we have to be on the lookout for!).
Well, since school starts tomorrow, I'd best go, so I can put the boys down for the night. Hopefully they'll go to sleep without too much trouble.
