A boy struggles with trying to compete in a race.

Boy, if I knew walking in a 5 mile race was gonna be this hard I would have never signed up.  Now, as a result, my feet feel like hamburger and I am sore in places I didn't even know existed!

Last night, I took part in a race for raising awareness for breast cancer (my aunt had that; she survived, but I did it in her honor).  I raised monies to where I could go and compete; also drummed up enough sponsors to be able to do just that.  So I walked last night in the race, and for the first two miles, it was good, but then fatigue and stiffness and soreness hit like a brick wall and it was a real struggle to do those last few miles.

Today I can hardly move, I am so stiff and sore.  I am vegging out on the couch; it is too much of an effort for me to walk anywhere without my feet, hips, and whatnot screaming obscenities at me!

Might have been a good idea at the time, but now I am regretting it.  I just hope my aunt isn't too disappointed in me for failing to complete the walk.  (I walked four and a half miles before my body finally gave up the ghost.  I nearly made it, but not quite.)

My parents (as well as my aunt) keep telling me I did my best and not to be so hard on myself.  I'm sorry; I can't help it.  I'm in just too much pain to even care.  If I could talk dad into getting his hunting rifle and put me out of my misery, it would be a lot better off; for one thing I wouldn't be in any pain any longer!

Sometimes, kids, like adults, myself certainly included, bite of far more than they can chew, as seems the problem with this young man with the very excellent intentions.
