I may be paralyzed right now but I am lucky to be alive ... no, make that blessed.
I don't know why I ended up in this predicament, but I do know one thing: I have always been a strong man of faith and I know that everything happens for a reason.
I just got out of the rehab hospital and have since returned home to a new way of life. It isn't going to be easy at times, but with help from family, friends, and prayer warriors (and of course, a great big God), I feel I'm gonna make it. I have to.
Just because I am sitting down, that doesn't mean my life is over. It isn't, not by a long shot. I will have to find a different way to do the things I love (including driving my truck); it is gonna take time, but with His help, I will prevail. I (and God) will see to that.
My family and friends have been absolutely amazing during this entire ordeal. From the time I landed badly in that jump to the present day, they have not left my side. They have made sure I have had everything I needed and they still continue to do so to this day.
Just yesterday, when I got home, I was greeted to a house that was accessable to my needs. It was more than enough to move this big, strapping Marine to tears. I still can't believe that they went all the way to make my life just a little bit easier. That means I will be able to navigate to every area of the house without any difficulty and won't be trapped in one room.
In addition to that, they stocked my refrigerator and freezer with food and some friends have gone out of their way to bringing homecooked meals. They have also started a fund to cover all my medical bills that I have encurred during the last six months. It is enough to make me cry!
I don't know what I have done to deserve all of this ... I am just a humble man who would rather put others before myself. I am definitely loved and I am grateful to God for His mercies and grace upon my life, even in light of what has happened to me!
