Dear Journal~
Bill here. Getting ready to leave in less than fifteen minutes; wife is busy getting the kids loaded up into the bus, so we can head out for our church. Our churches (and a lot of others) are holding "Harvest Festivals", as an alternative to the more traditional Halloween festivities.
The kids are dressed in their "Halloween finery" (but alas: no goblins, witches, zombies, vampires, or warlocks in the lot, unless you count a few ghosts, but that was because the costumes at the stores were picked over and we had to make some last minute adjustments). They are excited; so are we.
The Singing Cookes southern gospel group will be entertaining us this evening, as will our choirs; in fact, Louie should have already been at the church already, but you know how it goes with a family our size: delays are meant to happen (and they oftentimes do!).
The weather is beautiful: temps in the middle 70's (60's by the time the festival gets cranking at six; it runs until 9:30); you couldn't have asked for better weather. I'm just glad the kids decided to stay healthy this year; usually one or two (or more) get sick with a cold or the flu, but we got 'em all their flu shots so they're up to date. We also got them their pneumonia and tetanus shots, so they're good.
The kids are looking forward to the candy and other treats, as well as the bounce house, the games, and of course, the goodies (food). There will also be a few kiddie type rides (as well as a climbing wall) for the kids to enjoy. It will be good because that way Louie and I can spend some time together and know the kids will be in good and safe hands.
I just wish the kids who no longer live here at home could join us; I miss having Johnathon, Ronee', etc., here. They made the events (such as this) a lot more fun and enjoyable!
