Dani Grace Holemeister is my name. I am 11 years old. I live with my family in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
I was adopted when I was six from China. At first it bothered me that my new family didn't look like me, but I've since gotten used to it and I consider them the only real family I have really ever known. (Before I was adopted, I had been in an orphanage; nobody wanted me because I had been born with a physical difference.)
In between the hospital stays or surgeries I've had throughout my brief life, I think I am doing pretty good, all things considering. I can walk with crutches strapped to my forearms (and braces on my legs); for longer treks, I use my trusty old steed (my wheelchair). I have many friends at school (I am in fifth grade) and hardly anybody picks on me, which I greatly appreciate.
I am like any other kid. I love to talk on the phone (what preteen girl doesn't?), play on the computer, draw, write stories, sing, go to church, play wheelchair sports (baseball and softball mostly), hang out with my friends Bethie and Gisela; they've been my best friends since kindergarten, right after I had been adopted), travel, and go to concerts (I love country music; Keith Urban is my favorite! I also love Loretta Lynn.)
Well, I hate to run, but it's about time for supper; gotta go to bed if I want to be fresh for church tomorrow. Take care and may God bless you always; this is Dani Holemeister saying so long! I'll write again another time!
~Love, Dani Grace.
