I see it in the kids today.  Kids who don't respect authority, kids who do not give a darn, kids who think they can have everything in this world.  It's because society as a whole has let discipline fly out of the window, and we're all paying its terrible price.

Back when I was a child, we knew right from wrong.  We got disciplined by our parents, and we knew that if we did something wrong, we were going to have to face the music and pay the consequences.

We did not get everything handed to us on a silver platter.  Kids today expect to have everything yet do little to appreciate what their parents do for them.  I know my kids get disciplined and they are expected to obey us, their parents. 

If the little ones get into things they aren't supposed to or backtalk, they can be expected to get a whipping on their butt or put into the corner if the offense is bad enough.  They know right from wrong and what is expected of them.  They know that they cannot have everything; if they want something, they are going to have to earn it or prove to Daddy and myself that they can behave in certain situations.

It's that simple.

Nowadays we can't discipline our kids because we are scared of getting reported to the proper authorities (or at least thrown in jail).  What is up with that?  And since when is disciplining your child by spanking considered "abuse"?  I don't beat my kids and never have.  I don't smack them across the face when they backtalk (though I think they sometimes deserve it) and I certainly don't leave bruises or other marks on their body!  All they get is five spanks on their butt, nowhere else!  And if they sass or throw a temper fit, they will be grounded for whatever time Daddy or I determine!

Time outs do NOT work.  Neither does talking to your kids as if they are your buddies.  That is total bullcrap and utter nonsense!  It's no wonder kids today are so out of control: parents do not know how to be parents anymore; they've become way too lenient!

I'm sorry, but we need to put old fashioned discipline back into our country and let these kids know that we are in charge, NOT them!!
