A woman recuperating from pneumonia is about to get out of the hospital. She is glad she is going home soon.

I swear my body hates me.  Barely even winter and I've already been in the hospital twice.  The same darn thing.  Pneumonia.  AGAIN! *Sigh*

This is Minnie Pearl Owens.  I'm sitting up in a chair in my hospital room waiting for the doctor to come see me.  Hopefully he will let me go home today or at least by tomorrow; I'm so sick of needles, doctors, and stuff I could just spit nails!!

At least the food is good .... as an example, today I had skinless white meat (chicken), broccoli, steamed baby carrots, a baked potato (with no butter on it), and for dessert, a fruit cup.  And for drinkin', a Diet Sprite.  It was very good; I'm still full! LOL

That, at least, I can be thankful for!

And I no longer have to worry about Christmas.  It wasn't bad, but it could have been better.  I could have been home, for one thing!  The nicest thing that happened was when some carolers came in to sing Christmas songs; they sang so pretty it caused tears to come to my eyes.  I didn't want them to leave.  I did make them laugh, though: I told them, "Y'all better not sing 'I'll Be Home For Christmas' 'cause I WASN'T."  LOL

And my nurses, they brought me cards and some little gifts: candy canes, soap, even a little cash, which I did not expect.  I have had the best nurses in the world!

Come on, doctor: where in the hell ARE you???  I wanna blow this popsicle stand and return to my home, sweet home!!!!

I do feel tons better, but I'm still coughing my fool head off.  My chest hurts from coughing so much; feels like I'm 'bout to turn myself inside out and backwards!  And it leaves me gasping for breath; good thing I have this oxygen on to help me!

The IV has been taken out (thank GOD!), but I face one more blood gas, to make sure I'm doing better.  THAT I am NOT looking forward to.  My poor skinny wrists are nothing but bruises and they look terrible, y'all!  UGH!  Hopefully that will be the last one of those for a while!

Well, goodie.  It's about time.  Doctor decided to show his happy ass; hopefully I can get OUT of here!!  I don't want to spend the New Year here; that would mean I'd be in the hospital all year long!!!!

~To be continued!~

I know what it's like to be in the hospital over Christmas. BAH! the humbugs. The staff tried to make it better, but it just wasn't happening ... well done, Karen.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

I've always hated that when a patient says, "I hope my doctor let's me go home tomorrow." To me that makes no sense at all. I've been hospitalized so many times I've lost count. But, just for example; In 2001 I was hospitalized for a brain tumor that had to be removed. Two surgeries and the next day I was walking the halls. They called my surgeon and he came a'runnin. "What are you doing?" he said. "Looking for the exit, I'm leaving," I told him. He 'asked me to stay one more night and if I felt that way in the morning, he'd sign the release. The next morning I went home. Anything short of a release is false imprisoment. OK, had my say. Well done, Karen.
