My name is Panama Quintana Morales. I am 12 years old. I live with my family in Marfa, Texas.
I am in the seventh grade at Marfa Middle School. My very best friend is Carmela Miracle; she and I have been best friends since kindergarten; we go back a long way.
I have my Mami and Papi, as well as my three brothers: Paco (13), Juano (15), and Miguelito (3) and two sisters: Querida (6) and Donatella (10). I'm stuck right in the middle. In addition to mi familia, we also have two Pomeranians: Killer and Chomps.
The older kids, myself, and Mami y Papi were all born in Mexico; meanwhile, Miguelito, Querida, and Donatella were all born here in the United States. I was born on New Year's Day, so I just had my birthday.
I like to do many things: ride my horse Charro, hang out with mis amigas, write stories and poems, draw, dance, sing, write in my journal, help with my younger brother and sisters, help out at church every Saturday (we're Catholic), and sing in the choir. When I grow up I want to work with children who have disabilities.
I would also like to become a member of a ballet folklorico troupe. I take ballet folklorico classes twice a week after school and absolutely enjoy it. I think ballet folklorico is beautiful.
Every spring (Cinco De Mayo, on May 5th; it's a very important Mexican holiday), I do ballet folklorico; I enjoy sharing the heritage of my people. I am proud to be Mexican-American.
Well, I have to go; we're having Mexican style spaghetti, tacos, salad, and for dessert, sopapillas. YUMMY; it all smells muy delicioso!! Hasta luego y bendiga!
