A woman enjoys the sound of gently rolling thunder.
Boy, what a difference a few weeks make ...
About two weeks ago, we had storms roll through here and they sure were noisy! The rain fell down fast and hard, the lightning arced across the canvas of the sky, making nighttime seem more daylight, and the thunder crashed! It may have been Christmas morning, but it seemed more like a day in spring!
Well, we're having thunderstorms again and they're much calmer. Nothing more than gentle thundershowers with no threat of severe whatsoever. The thunder is gently rolling, the lightning is intermittent at best (as is the thunder), and the rain is falling softly. Very pleasant to watch and listen to.
I have always loved thunderstorms, but personally I prefer those which do not contain hail, flooding, heavy downpours, frequent lightning and thunder, and (God forbid!) tornadoes and massive winds that are capable of doing a lot of damage.
Doesn't help we live in an area of the country that doesn't offer adequate shelter, so when the weather goes severe, we are sitting ducks. Whenever it gets bad here, I go into my teeny tiny claustrophobic half bath and pray that God keeps us safe (and the house together). One of my biggest fears is to lose my home (or my family) to a tornado.
Well, I hate to run, but the dog is scratching at the door; I guess "Toby" wants inside. Poor thing; he's probably soaked! I will then get back to enjoying the sounds of nature. Take care and God bless!
