The symptoms first began innocently enough: nothing more than horrible leg cramps, muscle spasms, weakness and trembling, and so forth; yet when they became more bothersome I had no choice but to go to see my doctor.

There could be treatment to lessen the worst of the symptoms; however, I would need to use crutches for walking (or a wheelchair or scooter when I went to places that required a lot of extra walking). It wasn't that good of news, but it could have been a lot worse.
In a way, I was relieved, but at the same time, I was depressed. I went from being an active woman to one who now had a disability that was beyond my control. It was a very hard time, but through it all my family and friends stuck by me, which I greatly appreciated.
It has been six months since that fateful day, and there are days where I still grieve my old life verses the new, but I am slowly, but gradually getting used to "the new normal". I have my bad days as well as the good, and I am slowly learning to take it one day at a time.
