A story about a girl with cerebral palsy, as told by her mother.
My daughter, Chelsie Rae, is my heart, my world, my everything. She is my LIFE.
I don't know what I would do without her. She has been a huge blessing to our family; I can't imagine our family without her. If anything, Chels has made our lives BETTER.
Chelsie is 9 years old. She was born with brain damage. When she was a little over a year old, doctors diagnosed her as having spastic diplegic cerebral palsy, meaning that her left leg and arm are affected; otherwise, she is perfectly healthy. Her one hand is permanently curled into a fist and her one leg is noticeably weaker than the other.
To compensate, Chels wears a brace (AFO, ankle foot orthotic) on her affected leg and has had to learn to do many things one handed. She does quite well for herself, all things considering. She may not run the mile or be on a track team, but that doesn't stop her from having fun. She plays just like any other kid her age.
Even falls don't slow her down. She'll dust herself off, get back up, and continue what she was doing before she fell. She always has a smile on her face; Chelsie is one of the happiest kids I know.
Chelsie is in the fourth grade. She is very smart, so much, in fact, she is in the GAT (Gifted and Talented) class at her school. There is absolutely nothing wrong with her mind; her problems are physical.
Chelsie has many friends and is one of the popular members of her class. She takes regular classes and is mainstreamed. She is doing exceptionally well; Dean and I couldn't be more proud of her.
When she grows up, Chelsie wants to work with kids like herself or be an artist or writer. She loves to paint or draw and her stories have often been featured at school functions; she is extremely creative for her age. She also wants to be a pastor and have her own church.
Chelsie accepted the Lord as her Saviour when she was six. She loves the Lord with all her being and loves telling others about what Jesus has done in her life.
Well, I hate to run, but it's about time to pick up Chelsie from her therapy appointment. It's just up the way from us, so it's not far. I will write more about Chelsie (and our family) at a later date. Until then, this is Genivieve Jackson saying so long and God bless!
This book consists of a 150 pages of Christian poetry about the end of time and the Second coming of Jesus Christ not as a servant but as a King, the King of kings. To bring righteousness and peace to the earth and restore the government of God! Peac
