A boy is worried about his younger brother, who may be a part of a gang. This is their story.
I am very worried about my younger brother.
He seems to be hanging around a gang that is notorious for causing trouble and mayhem.
He is only twelve years old, just a kid.
I'm scared I'm going to lose Jorge' forever: he doesn't want to do anything except hang out with his "homies". It's like being a member of this gang is all that he cares about.
It seems like Jorge' has always acted older than his tender years. (I'm 18; I'm his big brother, Enselmo.) I guess it's 'cause he feels that since he's the baby of the familia, he has to act older, jsut to prove to others (Mami, Papi, others) just how "big and tough" he is when he's nothing more than a stringbean with arms and legs.
He feels he's never had much of a childhood. He spent his formulative years hiding from a mean drunk for a father (our Papi left the picture last year after cirrhosis of the liver got him; he was only 50 years old) and now that he's gone, he feels that he has to "act big". I guess it's 'cause of all the responsibility that he's decided to ditch us, his own true , REAL family, and hang out with people who "care" about him.
The people he hangs around with (the "X-15's") are known to be born troublemakers. They rob old people, steal 'em blind, get into rumbles (gang fights) with other gangs in the "'hood", blast their rap music until the wee hours of the morning, get into various other kinds of mischief, and so forth.
The people known as the "X-15's" have records with the police as long as their arms (and some possibly even more than that); quite a few of them have been in jail for one thing or another, and one of the older members has been in prison for attempted murder: he beat an old lady so bad he put her into the hospital. The lady is now in a nursing home, a former shell of her old self: she doesn't know a thing and she has to have other people take care of her.
If anything were to happen to Jorge', I don't think I could ever forgive myself. Just say some heavy duty prayers that a.) he comes to his senses, fast, b.) that the other gang members don't use him for bait or take advantage of him, or c.) they don't harm or kill him. I would greatly appreciate any (and all) prayers! Gracias!
