Tottie Ruth Brighton updates us from their home base in Sydney, Australia.
Sydney, Australia, 27 Jan., 2013~
G'day, mates!
T'is Tottie Ruth Brighton at the helm; figured I'd get some writing in while the nippers are down for their naps. I don't hear them stirring, so maybe sleep has overtaken them. I hope so; they've been runnin' me bloody ragged!!
Bobbo is outside, mowin' the grass, but I worry 'bout him, 'cause it's so bloody hot outside, with temps over 40 Celcius (that's over 100 degrees for y'all who don't understand the metric system). I'm afraid he is a.) going to have heat exhaustion or heat stroke or b.) get nailed by a damn funnel web spider!
The spiders, they are out in full force. They love this weather. Everytime I see 'em, I freak out big time before I smash 'em flatter than flat with me shoe. Don't help I've been bitten several times in the past by funnel webs and spent time in hospital; hell, they absolutely terrify me!
One of me worst fears is that Bobbo, or the kids will get bitten; if the kids would ever get bitten, there'd be a chance they could die since they are so small. The venom from the spider could do catastrophic damage to their little systems. I don't think I could ever forgive myself if that were to happen ....
Well, Guinivere Abigail is now 13 months old: walking, talking up a storm. She has gotten so big; she looks just like me (poor child!). Little Trystan Robert, meanwhile, is his daddy in miniature; they look like carbon copies of each other. Trystan is now three and is in preschool; he loves it and has made many friends.
Smarter than the dickens, too: he is learning how to read, count, write his letters (he can even do his name now, with help) and recognize letters and pictures of animals. Bobbo and I are very proud of our little man!
While we are baking under the hot summer son, parts of Australia (Queensland, for example) have been inundated with excess rainfall; there's severe flooding and even reports of tornadoes with damage that way. Crazy weather we are having this summer; it is only a month long, but already it is proving to be a bad one. I am praying for those in the paths of the storms or the fires; I pray we don't see any of those fires, though sometimes, if the wind is right, one can smel the smoke or see the haze hanging in the air.
Very frightening, that!
I am still working; heck, I'm a mama! I have the hardest job of all! Me mate, he has it easy because at least HE gets to get out of the house to go to HIS job five days a week; he can get away from the chaos of home life! Meanwhile, I'm stuck with the babies; and when Bobbo-Dear is out, he has the car, so I really can't go anywhere. BLAST!!
Well, I hate to run, but the darn telephone is jangling again; if I don't answer it it may wake up Trystan and Guinivere, and I don't want to deal with bloody crying kids right now; I already have a splitting headache now as it is .... take care and God bless!
Actually, Karen, 24 degrees Celcius is in the mid-70s in Fahrenheit. It has to be around 40 degrees C to match 100 degrees F. =] Other than that, great story. From drought to floods, severe storms and tornadoes ... Australia has had a bad year. Praying for those folks. Well done.
The familiar lament of dual-career parents raising children is, "I just can't do it all." The Libra Solution provides an alternative - a more satisfying and sustainable work and life approach - to the overwrought modern day norm.
