It is really thundering and lightning out there as I write this .... and snowing. SNOW with LIGHTNING and THUNDER!! It's really weird!!
The weatherman said this could happen because the low pressure is so strong. It doesn't happen very often, but when it does, it really catches a lot of people off guard!
We are currently under blizzard warnings. From the way the snow is coming down, fast and furious, I believe it. We could get anywhere from 8 to 12 inches of snow easy (and probably even more than that). Already the schools are cancelling classes (including mine; yay! Snow day tomoorrow!! I can sleep in!!!) and I am sure quite a few businesses will, too.
Police and emergency management officials are saying for everyone to stay off the roads unless for emergencies; anybody who isn't having an emergency and still ventures out could stand the chance of getting arrested. Not good!
Good thing my parents were off work today (Dad works at an insurance place; they closed at noon when the snow first started to fall; they knew it was going to get bad so the people sent their employees home earlier than expected), so I don't have to worry about them driving in this mess! As for Mom, she is a homemaker so she is always home. She was out earlier when she took Jake, my little brother, to therapy, but they were home by noon as well. Now we're home for at least several days; depends when the snow stops falling and the weather clears.
Until then, we're stuck indoors. I will have to find ways to amuse Jake and myself and the animals. And I can watch the lightning flickering against the leaden sky and watch the snow tumbling down and listen to the wind howl.
