Thanksgiving, to me, means much more than gathering with family, eating turkey and other tasty food until we're miserable and stuffed, watching the annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade or football games on television, or having a few days off from school.
Thanksgiving is all of this, but it is MUCH more.
First of all, Thanksgiving is a time of giving thanks..hence, its name. THANKSGIVING. It means reflecting back, and thanking God above for all He has given. It is a time to rejoice and be thankful for NOT what we DON'T have, but for what we ALREADY have.
For me, Thanksgiving means family, and friends stopping by (although, as I write this on my laptop, we're heading towards Louisiana; we are going to spend Thanksgiving in Lafayette at our Auntie's house; and then we're going shopping and looking at the Christmas lights at Vermillionville and then who knows what else). Thanksgiving also means counting my many blessings.
Blessings. I have been blessed tenfold by my Lord Jesus Christ. First of all, He let me LIVE. Secondly of all, He got me through some of the worst health scares I have ever faced (such as the times when I have stopped breathing due to allergy attacks or asthma episodes, or the time when I had my stroke nearly two years ago..it will be 2 years come Christmas Day..), He got me through trying days at school, and through the death of my Grandmere' Moliere' (She had cancer of the brain), and He got me through those first awful days when I was told I had juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. And finally, He allowed me to come to Him and accept Him into my heart; and now, because of it, I am a Christian, and I am going to go to Heaven to be with Jesus. I no longer have to worry about going to Hell.
He also gave me the Gift of Song; and because of it, I have been able to share my testimony with others and lead them to the Lord; and I have had the opportunity to travel and meet many exciting stars from televison, movies, and music. To make others happy with what I do is probably my greatest joy, as is having the family I do. If it were not for my maman and daddy, I wouldn't have a home, and I wouldn't have so many brothers or sisters to love. I am thankful, VERY thankful, indeed, for my adoptive family!!

You are so right we need to give thanks..when we take time to look back we have so many things to be thankful for.We are Blessed.When we have friends and family, the freedom to come together and worship and share our love. we are truly blessed. We take for granted the health we have untill it is suddenly taken from us. God bless you for keeping your faith in God and sharing him with others.Your sister in Christ.Susie Weiler
