Hello! It's your friend, Shania Denise Brewster, writing! Hope this finds you all doing well.
As for me, I have my good days and my bad days. I still have chronic pain (fibromyalgia); I was officially diagnosed with it last year and it's been hard to live with at times.
I am always in some pain. Basically, fibromyalgia is like having arthritis of the muscles and connecting tissues; cold, damp, or humid days make it worse, as do rainy (or snowy) days. Hot or sunny weather seems to alleviate the worst of it and then I can halfway function like a normal human being.
I still walk with a cane. I feel safer with it.
People are getting used to the fact that I am not faking my illness and that what I have is a very real (and painful) condition. I have had to give up a lot of things because it was too hard on me physically. It's been hard, but I am trying to live and manage my illness as best as I can.
I don't know what the future holds for me (or my fellow fibromyalgiacs), but I am hoping that a cure (or at least more awareness or research) can be done, so people don't think that we are not talking out of our head in pain or that we are faking our problems when we are doing anything but! That's my goal: to see our problems accepted (and dealt with) in a humane, honest, straight-forward manner.
Well, I hate to go, but I have to get ready to go to church. I will write in here again soon; until then, this is Shania Brewster saying so long; may God bless you always!
