I.
Don't know how long this madness can continue: me trying to elude my captors or trick 'em into thinking I can see perfectly when I can't see more than 20' in front of me without my glasses. If they find out that I am legally blind, I'll more than likely be put to death, just because a.) I was born Jewish, and b.) with weakened vision.
The tattoo on my arm has since healed over; it no longer pains me, but it is a grim reminder of my predicament. I am no longer a citizen: I am a prisoner of the Nazi regime, who want nothing more than to put Jewish (or non Aryan citizenry) to death. They want to do everything in their power to break us in any way they can think of, even if it means murdering us at will.
II.
Today I saw more people shot or stabbed right in front of me: children, men, women, elderly. They didn't work hard (or fast) enough, or they tried to backtalk; if there is one thing the Nazi thugs do not tolerate here, it's resistance, so they feel they must act to end it quickly and efficiently.
Meanwhile, I am left wondering if I am to be the next one shot or stabbed, and if I am, if I will even survive. I somehow doubt it: I am small and thin, looking more like ten than a teenaged boy of fourteen. I have to do everything in my power to try to stay alive and prove to these bastards that I am capable of doing the tasks laid out before me.
III.
I still haven't heard anything about Mama or Papa, or the rest of my family. All I remember is that they were taken by train, where people promised that they would be very well taken care of. Well if that is the case, why do I have this niggling feeling that I am somehow being lied to? I wouldn't be surprised if it were the Nazis behind this trickery; if they are behind this evil that continues to grow, I shall truly hurt them in ways they will never forget ....
I continue to lose weight: my clothes, they hang on me, and I am looking more skeleton-like with each passing day. My beautiful brown, curly hair has been shaved off; I am as bald as a rock and in the cold weather, it chills me to the bone. I wear nothing but rags or a thin coat and I am barefeeted; I pray I don't get sick, or it will truly be the end of me ....
