Turkey-Neck Johnson continues to live on the mean streets, trying to find help (and hope), but to no avail, leaving him increasingly frustrated.

Don't know why I even bother trying to have hope when all I get is kicked to the curb.  No matter what I do or what I say, it's like my feelings don't even matter.  People would rather throw me out than to bother with the likes of me.

I'm sorry.  I did not ask to be in this predicament.  It just happened and I am paying the price.  I continue to search for a place to stay or a job, but like everyone else, nobody wants me.

It's enough to make me want to end it all.  I have had it!!

Doesn't help that the pain I go through every day continues to give me fits.  Nothing will touch it and whenever I go to the damn VA hospital here in town, the darn docs say it's all in my head and I need to see a psychiatrist 'cause I'm tetched in the head.  Oh, really??  Let them live in MY body and see what I am going through; then they'll find out soon enough that the pain I suffer from is all too real!

I fell the other day.  Landed right on my crutches; left terrible bruises on my left side.  They hurt like hell; looks like someone kicked me with combat boots on.  Hard to sleep or lie on my one side 'cause the pain will wake me up instantly.  I fell over a manhole and hit the ground hard.  It's a wonder I didn't bust something ...

I did loosen my one crutch (the arm band); gonna have to find someone who can fix it or at least tighten it for me so it don't come off while I'm walking, and then I'd really be in a jam ...

I think the worst thing about being homeless is having people look at me (or any of my buddies) like we're vermin or something to be discarded.  Or hearing 'em say disparaging things about us (or Veterans or service people, in general).  If I had half a mind, I'd tell those god blessed rich sumbitches where to go and how to get there!  I hate having to live like this day in and day out!!

While I am not a religious man, I do ask for prayers, but then I don't know if that will do any good.  It's like God done turned His back on me; I don't think He even cares for me or knows of what I am facing in life!  Still, I would like it if y'all would pray for me, ol' Turkey Neck Johnson.  Maybe I'll get lucky and God will finally see me and that maybe He can perform some sort of miracle!  Thanks!

Well, gonna go; it's getting dark fast and gonna see if I can find a place to rest my head and go to sleep.  I haven't slept good the psat few nights, especially since I fell ...

The New Debtors' Prison by Paul Lonardo

While Debtors prisons no longer exist, many people continue to be persecuted for crimes related to poverty or inability to repay money owed to municipalities. This practice remains in an injustice that needs to be rectified.
