Sopai!

This is your Maasai friend, Blessing Grace Mukabe, writing!  Hope the cattle are well; our cattle are doing just fine, thank You, God!

I am now 11 years old.  I still go to school Monday through Friday; I also help Mother, Father, and my two big sisters, Charity and Faith, with the housework and helping repair the house (or building a new one whenever we have to go to a new place).  The life of the Maasai is very hard, but it is all I know.  I would not trade it for anything.

In addition, I help milk the cows; Father says I am a very good milker.  I love singing my cow-songs to them; I know all our cattle by name and know how to help them lest they should get sick or hurt in any way.

I have a very good life.  I have many good friends at school and church continues to bring me much joy.  I love singing about Jesus; He is my Lord and my Saviour.  I love telling others about Jesus and what He has done for me.  Even when our baby brother, Joseph, died two years ago from malaria, Jesus was with us; He helped wipe our tears and take the sadness away (though I still have a hole in my heart; I will never forget Joseph.  I loved him so much; he was like a real live dollie).

The weather is warm, but we need rain.  If we don't get rain soon the animals will sicken and die, which, in kind, makes us go hungry, because then there will be no food or water for us.  We are always having to go someplace new, in the hopes of finding more food for our cattle (and for us).  I am tired of traveling.  I would like to come to a new place and stay for a while, and get used to the area.  That way, I don't have to keep making new friends!

Please pray to God that we get some rain here soon!! I and our cattle would greatly appreciate it, as would our family!
