     Love and the Species

He:

It is not only that you are beautiful in my eyes
it is too that you
are unaware
and I,
therefore,
treasure it more
 as Beauty Devoid of Ego.

She:
 It is not only that you are handsomest to me
it is too
that your man excites my woman;
  your gentle Beast envelopes me;
 your broad chest heaves for me
your ruggedness upon me.

He:
But then here let's be clear
it is too
my mind's measuring
your wide hips and
your child bearing capacities
 evolking that Evolution Elixir
and my own ego;
which likes the idea of your being pregnant
with our progeny.

She:
"I like feeling pregnant and ripe
ripe
with our child
 bearer of the family line.

In my mind's eye
I see
grandmother smile
more babies being born
toddlers toddling
schooling years
young daughters
marrying
another generation
spawning."

Perhaps love
is that secret desire
in each species to survive;
a dream
planted first
in young girls
eyes

in young male
desires
giving us both species future
and history;
all this
propelled most
by Love's First Desires
and the Promise
of
 Childrens'
 Children
smiles.

An interesting poem about the drive to survive. Why we procreate so much.
