     A formerly homeless boy has a group of friends that he calls his "family". This is their story.

My family isn't really my true family, but in a sense, they're still family to me.  They take care of me and watch over me, to makes sure I keep my nose clean.

There is the head honcho, who watches out for all of us younger members.  His name's Jack, but we call him Boss-Man.  He is a bear of a man, powerfully built: nothing but solid muscle through and through.  Yet despite his massive size, he has the heart of a lamb.

Under Boss-Man are the other two adults of this group: Katrina Adamson and Marcel Quebedeaux.  They are in their middle to later 20's and are like an older sister or brother: I can talk to Katrina or Marcel about anything under the sun and feel comfortable doing it.

Then there are the kids: five of us, ranging in age from 18 (Delvarius Touche') down to ten years (the little one is "Peanut"; her real name is Q'ui'ronka, but we call her "Peanut" 'cause she is so tiny: she looks more like eight or even younger).  Besides Q'ui'ronka, there's Scott Madison (17), myself (I'm Bogie, by the way; I'm 15), and Michael Pennington (13).

So that is "The Gang", the ones I call my "family". 

I do have a real family, but they abandoned me when I told them that I was gay.  After that, they didn't want to ahve anything to do with me.  I don't like to talk about this because it still cuts deep to the bone. I ended up on the streets and eventually ended up staying with Boss-Man, Katrina, Manuel, and their kids (all "fosters"; guess that makes me a "foster", too).

That was two years ago, when I was 13, adn they're the best thing that could have possibly ever happened to me.  They accept me for me and do not pass judgment on me or my boyfriend, Riley, which I greatly appreciate.

In fact, life is so good right now I hope with all my heart that I become a permanent member of "The Family", as we have learned to call ourselves.
