Hope this finds y'all well; as for me, I'm freezing my ass off. It's getting downright chilly 'round these parts; may have to see if I can find a shelter that's open (or at least a church) so I don't freeze my tail-feathers off!
Also may rain tomorow, which makes it seem even colder. The damp weather just goes right through me; if I don't get sick or end up in the hospital with pneumonia, it will be a miracle ....
I'm still walkin' on a busted crutch from when I fell last week. Bruised the shit outta my hip and jarred everything inside when I smacked the ground. The crutch is very loose (the arm band) and it makes for tough going. I've had to duct tape it so it don't come apart. Maybe I can find a crutch somewheres; anything's better than using this danged busted piece of crapola!
Someone did give me $25.00 today so at least I'll have a few good meals ahead. I won't starve, at least for a few days, anyway. So that was an unexpected blessing. Good to know that there are people who do care for homeless folks like myself; I hate feeling invisible or seeing people turn away whenever we show up on the scene!
I know I didn't ask to be like this; bad things just happened, and I ended up on skid-row. I'd love to get outta the streets, but when one doesn't have the money or the resources, then what's a fella down on his luck supposed to do? It just doesn't make sense sometimes .... it's no wonder I'm often depressed ....
It's getting dark, so I'm gonna see if I can find a place to rest my head for the night. Wish me luck and pray a prayer that a shelter will take me in; I hate sleeping on the streets or in parks, only to have the cops chase me out! Thanks in advance!
Trying to sleep when it's 30° or below is not sleeping, it's torture. How these guys survive it, I don't know. I understand there are several reasons why people are on the street. The economic ones, like Turkey-Neck, need some assistance to get off the street. in our rich society, we shouldn't have any homeless people. We hang on to the old, archaic idea, that some people are expendable because they don't live up to our standard of being greedy and rich as some kind of superior quality. Everyone deserves a fair shake. Your story illustrates that very well.
