Saturday, March 16, 2013, Vanderbilt Children's Hospital, 10:28 a.m., D.S.T.~

Dear All~

This is Louisiana Sandusky writing, with another update regarding our six-year-old daughter, Bastienne Camille (we call her Camille).

Unfortunately, things remain about the same.  No real improvement in her condition, but then again, things haven't gotten any worse either.  In a way, that is good news, as is the fact that we have a definite diagnosis now, so maybe the medical staff can treat her and nip this thing in the bud.  Camille has MRSA and septicemia (overwhelming infection of her bloodstream).  She is very, very sick; the medical staff has put Camille into a medically induced coma so she can rest and fight off the infections invading her system.  They are treating her with medications and other heroic life-saving measures to try to prevent further organ shutdown.

I have been by Camille's side as often as I can, adn while it hurts terribly to see her lying so still, machines keeping her alive, I am comforted by the fact that she is still with us and even in her state, she continues to fight the good fight, like a little ninja warrior.

Johnny and Rebekka have been here; it feels so good to see them.  Ronee' and Michael are on their way from Louisiana and Steffi and Tank are on their way from Texas; they'll be here later today (Ronee' and Michael) or tomorrow (Steffi and Tank).  Richard and his wife are flying in tomorrow from Utah, and Lightning will be here tomorrow as well; she is flying in from Colorado.  Anh and Thu (and baby daughter, Bella) will be arriving later today from Oklahoma.  So the family is coming together to offer us moral support; we are incredibly blessed to have such kind, thoughtful children!

Meanwhile, Bill, papa, maman, and the older kids have been running the show at home, keeping our extended family (and friends) updated with the latest news, as well as informing co-workers and our church family.  There has been an incredible outpouring of love and support, which Bill and I both greatly appreciate.

We have seen our pastors and members of our church stop by, where they have wept with us and prayed for us (and Camille).  Everyone has been so kind, bringing us food, money, and whatever else w may need.  Some of them have started a fund for Camille's medical costs, so we don't have to worry so much about it.  I keep telling them this isn't necessary, but it is, on the other hand, nice to know that so many people care for us in our time of need.

Well, I am waiting for Drs. Chandra, Patel, and Morganstern; hopefully they'll have something in the way of better news.  Lord, I hope so; this waiting game or period of uncertainty is wearing me plumb out!  Good thing my bosses have given me time off from work (with pay), so I can be with my daughter!
