A teenage boy tells his depressed best friend to get a grip on his life.

I don't know what you are truly facing other than what you have told me, but you can't wallow in your self-pity and expect others to feel sorry for you.  I know I'm not; I am too busy and too blessed to be depressed.

Why are you so down on yourself?  Is life really and truly that bad??  Somehow I don't think so; I think you are doing this just so people can pay attention to you and feel sorry.

I have my problems too: a sick grandmother with Alzheimer's who lives with us, a little sister who cannot walk or talk (she's like a baby even though she is seven years old), worrying about my dad's job (he may be let go; he is having problems with his supervisors), and worrying about mom working two jobs to pay the bills and the babysitter when they are not home, amongst other things, yet even despite everything I've had to go through, I still make it a point to be happy and thank God for all the blessings that He's given me.

Your life isn't that bad.  You at least have parents who can stay home and watch over you.  I'm stuck at home with my sister and grandmother when my folks aren't home and I can't do anything until they get back or off work.  I haven't had a vacation in over five years, yet I don't complain.  I know God is goinna take care of us, and He does.

Don't feed me that line that God doesn't care.  He does if you'd just let Him work in your life.  It's like you are pushing God away; it's no wonder things aren't happening.  You're not giving God (or others) a chance to help you through your sadnes.

Well, I'm gonna go; I want you to seriously think about what I've been trying to tell you.  You may not agree with me right now, but trust me .... you will see what I'm talking about when you think about my life verses yours and you will then see just how good you truly DO have it!
