Hard to believe that Great Aunt Hattie is still alive.  She is 97 years old and shows no sign of slowing down.

She came to live with our family last year, when Dad decided her being in a nursing home was detrimental to her well being.  It's been a big adjustment on all of our parts.

She continues to be stubborn and cantankerous.  Nobody can get away with anything as long as she's around. 

To pass the time, she crochets, knits, and plays Gin Rummy with anyone she can get to sit down for a spell.

She usually beats us handily.  Dad won't play with her, becaue he says that she cheats and is out for blood.  LOL

Mom keeps her well stocked with her favorite things.  One of her most favorite foods is goldfish crackers (original flavor, thank you very much). 

A fiesty little Pomeranian she calls Jack keeps her company.  He joined the famiy three months ago.  He immediately took to Great Aunt Hattie.  He loves her.  He growls at everyone else. 

He chases my big 15 pound Maine Coon and tries to bite her every chance he gets.  Fluffy doesn't like Jack very much.

I'm not crazy about him, either.  But I put up with him because he's her dog.  And what Great Aunt Hattie wants, Aunt Hattie gets. 

We want to keep the peace.

Well, Great Aunt Hattie is calling me to come play a game of Gin Rummy RIGHT NOW, so I better get going before she throws her cane at me.  I'll continue this another time.
