This story is about a successful transformation of a man that I knew by "Loose Bruce" and my own experiences.
Why I Quit Drinking? (Part 3)...Transformations...What if those dusty beer goggles had transition lenses where as clear as day you can see a typical guy turn into an alcoholic and then come back again sort of like Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde well lets see does anyone remember this gruffy loud drunk who use to walk the corners of Prospect and Forest Streets Shouting his name to the world "I am Loose Bruce !" "The one and only loose Bruce." He would pass out two dollar bills to anyone he'd know. He use to go out with my Mom back then in her search for stability, He gave her no life. He had many women. Then one day he dropped off the face of the earth. He came to the end of his rope and saw that he wasn't getting any better and joined AA and it has changed his life. I surprisingly found him there when I decided to join and he was a different man. He was clean cut, physically fit, dressed better and instead of verbally making himself aware to the community was now involved doing landscaping at local churches has anyone seen him? can you see him through those glasses? It's been years since I seen Bruce hopefully he's still living with his positive life change. My life changed significantly I am no longer calling up work and throwing up in Kleenex boxes in my car finding myself driving to a hotel when I was suppose to be working to recuperate. That was no life to live. For anyone who has ever gotten sick puked in cars. Pissed on carpets because you were too wasted to find the bathroom. What kind of life is that? Some people are too full blown then to realize that alcohol dominates their lives and refuse to accept the help that is offered to them they are the ones who will sit in a drunk tank for two days and cry their way out. They normally end up back in there again. I too wanted out at first I wanted to be back at the bar with my so called friends. but where were they when I was in there? It made me realize that I needed to let them go and focus on people who had significant importance to me including myself. It's not fun hanging out with drunks It's not fun being one. I am living now for myself and my family. I am fortunate enough not to have killed myself in the process. Hopefully I helped someone.
