Living in the heart of Tornado Alley as we do, Spring is not my favorite time of year.

My family and myself have been through more tornadoes than you can count. We've even lost several homes to the ferocious winds, forcing us to rebuild or relocate.

We would love to move away from Texas, but can't afford it.  I stay at home, where I take care of my severely disabled son, who is in a wheelchair, unable to walk, see or talk.  He can't feed or dress himself.  He requires total care 24 hours a day.

My husband works three jobs in order to try to make ends meet.

Our son is not our only child.  I have a daughter, nine, from a previous marriage.  She calls my husband the Daddy she's always wanted.  (Her own father was and is a jerk.  He abandoned her when she was born and has not even attempted to make contact with her.)

I greatly appreciate his efforts, but still, I would be happiest if we could leave Texas for good.  I hate it here.  I've had more than enough of severe storms to last me the rest of my life!

Currently, we're under a moderate risk of severe weather.  Great.  Just what I wanted to know.  Meteorologists say that we will more than likely have tornadic activity, including the possibility of long lived, violent tornadoes.

And no freaking shelters.

Let's add to the fun: we live in a double wide.  Would love to live in a house, but with our son's medical (and other) bills, that's not happening anytime soon.

And I'm looking out the window to the north.  It's black and the skies are loaded with lightning. 

CRAP.  Sirens are sounding --
